SPinquiry will take part in two stages. One before winter Holidays and one that goes from January to Student Led Conferences.

The outcome will be that students create a two minute video about something that will "make a difference" Topics can be anything that will leave a footprint behind.

Part 1 Building Empathy
The goal of part 1 is to have students understand the community where they live. Students will watch the movie Pay It Forward and then do a random Act of Kindness. The students Pay it Forward Activities can be found at their class blogsites.

Students will have 7 classes in December to become more familiar with possible topics for their movie. Students will discover ideas in a variety of inquiry centers set up in parts of the school.

Following the winter break the students will be reimmersed into the inquiry process. They will be expected to create a topic that is important to them but..... will make a difference in the world.
Students will have to chose groups and divide up the work. Each group will need to have

The curricular outcomes for this part of the project will be

1. Media Literacy
2. Language Arts and the writing process.
3. Math (include stats/percents)
4. Social Studies Comparing the differences between western world and the 3rd world
5. Science Sustainable Development

The key goal is that students will begin to build empathy towards causes and develop a caring attitude. They should become better citizens. All other aspects of this project take a back seat to this opportunity for personal growth.
